SSSCAT the humane way to protect off-limit areas With SSSCAT, cats are deterred from going near valuable furniture, counters, and plants. An adjustable electronic motion sensor detects a cat approaching the restricted area, then a harmless, scentless spray is released to surprise the cat intruder. This highly effective spray is scentless, ozone friendly, and nontoxic to animals and children. Place SSSCAT where you don't want the cat to go (ex: kitchen counter, near plant, etc.) Turn on to spray; wait a few seconds for the motion detector to stabilize itself. A spray will be released when the motion detector detects the movement of the cat. After a few sprays, the sound will be enough to keep the cat out of off-limit locations.

I bought one of these last year since I have 4 cats and I wanted to keep them out of the Christmas tree. It worked great. I bought another one this year to go in a different direction under the tree. My only issue was when I got this from this particular company, it was broke, however I called the company and they sent me another one, no questions asked. Customer service was very fast. This product is a must if you have cats and a Christmas tree.

Very frustrating product. On the one hand it is keeping the cats off the stairs. On the other, it took me 5 units before finding one that worked, and I’m still not sure that it will hold out. Problem seems to be with the canisters. None have provided anywhere close to 200 sprays. Best one did maybe 100 but the last 50 were so weak there was no scare value. The cat was starting to creep up the stairs again. Of the first three I ordered, one lasted about 100 puffs, as I said, one kept going off continuously even in a closed, empty room, and one kept the sound on for so long it was unbearable. None of the canisters lasted as long as they should have and they chewed through their 4 AAA batteries in just a few weeks.
I had no problem with refunds/exchanges at all, but it’s a pain to have to ship them back.
Still, they really were effect in controlling the cats, but since the new ones don’t have the sound, I’m probably not going to keep them either because it will cost me $15-20 a month to keep the darn thing in batteries and compressed air.
The manufacturer has discontinued the most effective model (blue–sound and air) and some places seem to still be using the photo of the blue model but shipping the beige (no sound) version. Big mistake. What they should have done is add a switch to turn off the sound. If it had optional sound and worked as described, it would be an awesome product.

Ssscat is the only thing I have ever found that keeps the cats off the counter, although I did prefer the previous model that sounded an alarm as well as hissing air at them. One of our cats is deaf so unless the air hits him square in the face, he doesn’t notice it. If the alarm was not followed by the sound of little cat feet hitting the floor, I knew I had to go chase him off. Still, it works beautifully on the cats that can hear – they don’t like the sound of the hissing air even if it misses them.
