I have had kitties all my life, and as all know, they are not prone to taking orders. LOL If youo have a spot or spots you need to keep them away from, GET THIS PRODUCT. It is incredibly effective. I don’t even need the spray part of it turned on any more. It makes a whistle first, then sprays (if spray is turned on) Now they have come to associate the whistle with the spray and just skedaddle. Counter tops, back of my computer where the wires are. They don’t even go near any of it anymore, as they know this thing is there. Pavlov dogs. Great great product.
We have had an ugly cover on our leather couch for nearly two years because our furry friends liked to use it as a bathroom (their way of making editorial comments). Now we can actually use the couch and don’t have to cover it! The combination of the alarm and air squirting keeps them completely off. We hope to eventually set it for alarm only to avoid buying refills for the compressed air. Just be sure you buy the model with the alarm – they also have one with just compressed air that would tie you into endless refills.
Ssscat is a great product and worked as advertised. Note that some of the reseller advertising says this product makes a sound (beep) before spraying and will “sound condition” the cat; however, a customer service representative at MultiVet advised me that this option is not offered any longer — this function was removed from the product, because it did not work as they had thought it would. I bought two of these devices and have now trained my cat to stay off of countertops and tabletops and to keep out of the pantry. Refills lasted only 3 or 4 days at first, but lasted longer as the cat learned to stay away. Buying refills in bulk thru a reseller is a cost saving option. I am putting the empty cans next to the active devices and am hoping that in time the cat will automatically stay away whenever he sees a can. I am very happy that I found this product.
I’ve used this to keep my cats from tearing a new rug apart. At first I thought it was defective, because when you wave your hand right in front of it, nothing happens. It responds well to motion a few feet away.
I have a very curious cat and nothing would stop him from jumping on counters, eating floral arrangements or sticking his nose where it didn’t belong, until SSSCat came along. He now stays off the counters without the SSScat. If I simply set the empty container out, he’ll go out of his way to avoid it. I bought a refill so I could put my Christmas tree up, and he hasn’t been near the tree. Thanks for a great product.
For the past three years I haven’t been able to have flowers or any other sort of greenery (real or artificial) on my table or counters, because one of my four cats insists on eating them. He would climb to any height to reach a plant and munch on it (then, of course, vomiting unpleasantly on the nearest carpet), often knocking over the vase in the process. When someone would bring us flowers, we’d have to close them in our bathroom at night for protection and then spend the day chasing the cat away from them.
SSScat has changed all that. After I placed it near a vase of flowers on the table, it scared the cat away twice, and he never went near them again. The same has been true for flowers on the counter and assorted Christmas decorations with artificial greenery — place the item, add the SSScat, wait for one scare, and that’s it. He’s learned that where the SSScat sprays, he needs to stay away.
As an added benefit, I’ve used the SSScat to train my dog to stay out of a couple of bathroom trash containers she used to raid regularly.
Although this product was designed for cats, I use it to deter my Golden Retriever from chewing on the basement steps! Dogs don’t like air blown into their faces and stay well back of the stairway when I set this can out.
This is a refill for a product that consists of a “top” portion for the can containing a battery-operated motion sensor that sprays a puff of air when anything crosses it’s path. The motion sensor works reliably and doesn’t eat batteries. Refill (air) cans last depending on how often they’re challenged by the animal(s).
Oh, and it does work on cats, too. I used it to keep mine away from fresh flower boquets on tables!
This product has been a pleasure to own. I don’t have to yell at my cats or spray them with water when they scratch at my bedroom door. The product lasts a lot longer than the original can that comes with ssscat. My relationship with my cats are better than ever! Great Product!
Great product. It only took two sprays before my very stubborn Abyssinian cat got the message. The best thing about it is I no longer have to get up and chase him off of the counters with a spray bottle of water because this system has a motion detector and works whether I am in the room or not.
